Maple Bacon Wrapped Brie Cheese

This appetizer is as impressive in looks as it is in taste. As we send the kids back to school and look forward to the cooler temps, this easy to make elegant appetizer will impress your guests. But there's no need to save this gem for guests only, at prep time of only 5-10 minutes, treat your family to this salty creamy concoction. Pour yourself a glass of ice cold white wine (if you are of age and enjoy imbibing), sit back and wait for the love.

1 lb. Maplewood smoked bacon slices

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 8 oz wheel of brie cheese

Directions: Create a bacon weave by laying out 4-5 strips of bacon vertically on a baking sheet. Leave one bacon strip's width between the strips you lay down. Next, start at the left of the vertical strips and weave a strip of bacon horizontally through these strips of bacon going under the first vertical strip, then alternating over and under as you weave. Repeat with the next piece of bacon, but this time go over the first vertical strip, then alternating under and over as you weave. Continue until your bacon weave is complete, making sure there are no spaces between woven strips. Place the brie in the center of the bacon weave, and evenly brush the maple syrup onto all sides of the brie. Wrap the bacon weave around the brie and place it right side up in an oven-safe skillet.  Bake for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees F, until the bacon is golden and crispy, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the bacon is super crispy.  Serve warm with crackers or toasted french bread slices.
